International partnering event on Active and Healthy Ageing

15 June 2011

Brussels

Scope

In the framework of the EU 2020 strategy and to realize the Innovation Union the EC will launch in 2011 a pilot European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing. This issue will become an important societal challenge for the EU.
The Health Working Group within the ERRIN network and IWT (NCP for Flanders, Belgium) are organising a joint project partnering event focusing on health research.
Several European programmes offer opportunities to fund collaborative projects within this framework, such as Framework Programme 7 (Cooperation theme Health, ICT) and CIP (ICT-PSP), EUREKA, Eurostars, Ambient Assisted Living (AAL), the Joint Technology Initiative Innovative Medicines (IMI) and the Joint Programming Initiative on Neurodegenerative Diseases.

Process
The idea of the partnering event is to facilitate mature project ideas to develop into concrete proposals through guided brainstorming sessions, where the intention is to develop consortia with specific ideas for new research projects for programme calls in the very near future. The event will provide an effective and efficient forum for developing joint projects and future networks for successful European projects.

In the first step of the process of organising the event interesting project ideas have been selected. The list of slected project ideas
will serve as direction to identify potential participants.

How to participate

interested participants (a.o. universities, hospitals, research organizations, SMEs, large enterprises) are invited to express their interest in max. 2 project ideas. Due to the need to bring together a selective audience interested in concrete project development, the event is not open to all and applications for participation to the event need the support of the corresponding ERRIN member office.

Participating organizations should be convinced of the need for transnational cooperation, be prepared to discuss their ideas openly and contribute constructively to the brainstorming sessions.

IWT, the Flemish agency for Innovation by Science and Technology, and ERRIN are the main organizers and will provide facilities and catering. Participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation costs.

The registration (scroll down this page) is free. The venue is in the heart of Brussels.
